The day of fun will take place on 111th and Amsterdam Avenue from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“This is our fourth annual Halloween extravaganza and we anticipated hundreds of neighbors on 10/26,” said Doug Lavin of the W111th Street Block Association. “This tradition started as a fun and safe outdoor activity during COVID and has only grown since then, attracting partnerships with the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the International Brazilian Opera Company, Morningside Merchants local business association, and many others.”
The afternoon will begin with live music, which will span all genres and will include local and international performers and a DJ. “Neighbors will also share local stories,” according to a press release shared by the Block Association. Performances will take place throughout the day.

The costume parade will run from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the local restaurant showcase–Taste w 111th Street–will offer a culinary tour of the surrounding area, with $20 “tasting passports” for yummy bites to support local businesses.

“This is a tangible and fun way to support local businesses,” said Bill Fell of the W111th Street Block Association. “Each year, we partner with the Morningside Merchants local business association to host our Taste w111th local restaurant showcase. This highlights the diversity of Morningside Heights and introduces neighbors and visitors to eateries they may not have visited before. At the end, tasters will vote on their favorite food sample and the winner will receive the Triple-One Cup.”
