Children’s Museum of Manhattan
The Children’s Museum of Manhattan will be partaking in the celebrations by hosting a fun activity designed for kids aged 5 and up. During Father’s Day Picture Frames workshop, children will create and design their own picture frames to show appreciation towards dad. A picture frame can hold a memory that can last a lifetime and we can’t think of a better gift to give to dad on his special day. The Upper West Side’s Barnes & Noble will be hosting an event for Father’s Day with a story time session dedicated exclusively for dads. On June 18, two books containing stories that honor fathers, grandpas, and caregivers will be read to children and their families. Rebecca Van Slyke’s Dad School deals with the repercussions of an alternate world where dads have to go to school while Helen Foster James’ Grandpa Loves You! cherishes the amazing bond that blossoms between a grandpa and his grandchild as they go on a series of unforgettable journeys together.Mo Movies
New York Historical Society, Jun 19 – 1pm
It’s time for the lively tales of Mo Willems’ books come to life and into the big screen in this event held at the New York Historical Society. Mo’s beloved stories and adorable characters such as Knufflee Bunny, Pigeon, Elephant & Piggie, and the Naked Mole Rat will be making their transition into the cinema during this special screening taking place on Father’s Day. Don’t forget to also check out his special exhibition The Art and Whimsy of Mo Willems, which presents original art and sketches from the author’s most popular series and other classics such as Leonard the Terrible Monster. Willems is a NY Times best-selling writer and has had the honor to receive six Emmys for his contributions on Sesame Street.
