As the weather cools and leaves start to change, a handful of outdoor events are popping up around the neighborhood. Here are a few nice ways to celebrate the season.

The Columbus Circle Fair will be taking place on Sunday, September 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Broadway between 60th and 61st streets. “Join us and enjoy delicious food, Bargain Shopping, community engagement, Local Business Support and much more,” writes Mardi Gras Productions (here’s the flyer).

The Grand Bazaar’s Fall Fashion Bazaar is scheduled for Sunday, September 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the playground on 77th and Columbus Avenue. “Step into the heart of fall at the Fall Fashion Bazaar, where you can explore a curated collection of hot finds — whether it’s vintage coach, hermes, or DVF — or the hottest contemporary clothes this side of the city.” Here’s the event page.

The 35th annual West 104th Street Yard Sale (between West End and Riverside Drive) will be taking place on Saturday, September 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. More than 60 stalls will have a variety of items for sale including books antiques, vintage collectibles, posters, photographs, paintings, theater tickets, household items and beyond. There will also be a silent auction, a bake sale, a raffle (last year’s winner took home $3,149, a West 104th Street Block Association board member tells us), live music and more. Here’s the official event page.

Global Citizen Festival will return to Central Park’s Great Lawn on Saturday, September 27 beginning at 4 p.m. (gates open at 2 p.m. and the show goes until about 10 p.m.) General admission tickets are $120 (purchase link here), and there will be musical performances by artists including The Weeknd, Shakira, Tyla, Ayra Starr and Mariah The Scientist. The festival, whose mission is to “defeat poverty” and “defend the planet,” also brings a slew of actors and activists to the stage; appearances will be made by Hugh Jackman, Kristen Bell and Bill Nye and more, just to name a few.

Compostapalooza (part of Summer on the Hudson) will be taking place on Saturday, October 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the 95th Street Compost Compound in Riverside Park. The Compost Compound was introduced in 2023, and the event will include “demonstrations, science experiments, and live entertainment!” according to NYC Parks.
