A fourth floor apartment fire took place at 228 West 72nd Street on the evening of March 5. A reader informed us that the entire block was barricaded and that when she arrived home in her Lyft, the driver couldn’t couldn’t make his way through.
She saw a huge crowd of onlookers, a ladder extended to the apartment window, and a large number of firefighters and paramedics.
We reached out to the FDNY press office and were thankfully informed that there were no injuries. The fire was under control by 10:10pm.

What in the world should some one do, when her Lyft driver can’t make it down the last block?
I just can’t imagine a more challenging situation to find ones self in on the UWS.
