One of three suspects has been arrested for a May 24 hit-and-run in which the victim was an on-duty police officer.
Three male suspects illegally riding their motorcycles in Central Park were approached by the officer at about 4:05 p.m. near 90th and West Drive.
While the officer was attempting to escort them out, one of the suspects struck him with his bike before all three fled the scene.
The officer was knocked to the ground and suffered minor injuries from the fall. He was transported to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital to be treated.
Police have now confirmed the arrest of 18-year-old Brent Rosa, a Bronx resident who’s being charged with Assault on a Police Officer, Reckless Endangerment and Leaving Scene of an Incident Without Reporting.
Public records show that he pled not guilty to all three charges, and that prosecutors requested bail but he was released on his own recognizance. He’s due back in court on July 23.
The usual nonsense. A slap on the wrist. No bail. No punishment. Just do whatever criminal acts you want here in NYC. disgraceful.
I would typically agree, but this case involves assault on an officer which carries a bit more punishment
