Young Duo Sought in Central Park Robbery

Two youthful-looking suspects are wanted in connection with a robbery that took place this week in Central Park.

According to the police report, “two 20-year-old male victims were approached by two unidentified individuals” at 62nd Street and West Drive at about 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13.

The suspects “forcibly removed three chains from one of the victims and a hat and vape pen from the other,” police say. They fled the scene by foot, traveling westbound towards West Drive.

No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

Police describe the first suspect as “a male with a slim build [who] was last seen wearing a black tank top, ripped jeans, white sneakers, and a red and white baseball cap.” He appears to be White, per the surveillance image shared by police.

The second suspect is also described as “a male with a slim build.” He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black ripped jeans, dark colored crocs, and a black baseball cap. He appears to be Black or Hispanic, per the surveillance image shared by police.

Both suspects appear to be in their early 20s, though we haven’t been provided with an expert guess on that.

Both suspects also appear to be wearing looks of concern, like they realize they shouldn’t have just committed that crime.

The NYPD just this week announced an increase in patrols within Central Park due to the rise in violent crimes which have taken place there this year.

Anyone with relevant information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by sending a direct message to @NYPDTips on Twitter.
