“Women’s Rights Pioneers Monument” Unveiled in Central Park

On the morning of August 26, the “Women’s Rights Pioneers Monument” was unveiled on Central Park’s Literary Walk.

This is the first monument added to Central Park since 1965 – and also the first to depict female figures.

The monument features bronze figures of Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and commemorates the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.

The monument was created by artist Meredith Bergmann and sponsored and funded by non-profit organization Monumental Women.
