Annelle Finol and her family
When Upper West Sider Annelle Finol gave birth to her son in 2023, she found herself, like many new moms, reflecting on what she wanted the next chapter of her life to look like. After a career in finance and years of living abroad—in Toronto, Amsterdam, and back again—she felt a pull toward something more personal, more joyful, and more flexible. The result? Bombon, a new online boutique offering baby and children’s clothing sourced from small European brands.
The name, which in Spanish typically translates to “chocolate” or “candy” (and can be used affectionately), feels right at home on the Upper West Side—a neighborhood Annelle says she fell in love with for its “real sense of community” and easy access to both Central and Riverside Parks. “We spend so much time outdoors now, and this part of the city just feels different than the New York I knew before,” she says.
Though Bombon is online-only for now, the business is rooted right here in the neighborhood. Annelle works from home, balancing daily logistics with her son’s nap schedule. She’s also keeping an eye out for a short-term retail pop-up space and dreams of one day opening a brick-and-mortar store. “So many of these pieces are even better in person,” she says. “Each brand has its own story, and it would be amazing to share that directly with customers.”
The brands Bombon currently carries—like Al Agua Patos, Fina Ejerique, and Donsje—come from across Spain, Denmark, and the Netherlands. Most of the clothes are available in sizes newborn through 4 years old, with thoughtful sibling sets that match across baby and toddler sizes. “In Europe, it’s common to dress siblings in coordinated outfits, even for everyday,” Annelle explains. “That was something I really wanted to bring here—making those everyday moments feel special.”
Bombon’s summer collection is live now, with light, breathable styles designed for comfort and play. And this August, the brand will expand its offerings with nine new labels from Italy, Estonia, and France—just in time for fall.
For Annelle, Bombon is about more than adorable outfits. It’s about celebrating childhood, building something meaningful, and staying close to home—literally and figuratively. “After years of living abroad, I’ve come full circle,” she says. “I’m back in New York, now with a family, doing something I love—and doing it right here on the Upper West Side.”
