Upcoming Events on the UWS: Music + More

As New York City hit 100 degrees this week — a mark not reached in June since 1994 — multiple standout events were postponed. We want to make sure they’re still on your radar, along with a couple of other top picks for free laughs and live music in beautiful settings.

Upper West Side Pride Walking Tour
Friday, June 27 from 6–7:30 p.m.
$38 non-members / $28 members (+ $3 fee)

Celebrate Pride Month with the NYC LGBT Historic Sites Project and LANDMARK WEST!

This walking tour of Central Park West — from Columbus Circle to the American Museum of Natural History — uncovers LGBTQ history connected to the Dakota, post-Stonewall protests, and important community spaces, including the endpoint of NYC’s very first Pride March in 1970.

One of the top reasons we love the Upper West Side is the walking. Whether you’re admiring Gothic or Art Deco architecture, clearing your head with a quick jaunt, or diving deep into the stories behind historic buildings, the neighborhood rewards curiosity. For those in the know, it’s not unusual to pause and say something more layered about a spot — like, “That’s where Carrie was walking with Miranda and the baby stroller,” a Sex and the City reference to West 68th Street between Central Park West and Columbus.

The tour will also highlight artists from James Dean to Leonard Bernstein and feature stops tied to post-Stonewall activism, including the Lesbian Feminist Liberation and the Gay Activists Alliance — two of the most influential LGBTQ rights groups of the 1970s.

Stamptown at Damrosch Park
Saturday, June 28 at 8 pm
FREE

From vaudeville and stand-up to cabaret, circus, drag, dance, and improv, this high-octane show returns for another year at Lincoln Center’s Summer in the City festival.

Hosted by Zach Zucker (Netflix, Vulture’s 2023 Comedian You Should Know), a born-and-raised New Yorker known for performing as a clown, Stamptown has toured across the country and abroad.

Fans of the Upper West Side TV hit “Only Murders in the Building” on Hulu might recognize Catherine (Cat) Cohen, who appears on stage Saturday night. She played one half of the peculiar Brothers sisters, Trina Brothers, the director of the movie they were making—based on the podcast from the show. At one point, they were even murder suspects. Cohen’s blend of stand-up comedy and cabaret-style songs has graced the stages of Club Cumming and Joe’s Pub.
