Thief Swipes 15-Year-Old’s iPhone: Have You Seen Him?

Police have issued an alert about a suspect wanted in connection to a grand larceny ‘pattern’ after committing two robberies in late September and early October. The NYPD is hoping someone from the public can assist them in identifying and locating the wanted individual.

According to the police report, the alleged thief approached a 15-year-old girl in front of 36 West 65th Street (between Columbus and Central Park West) under a scaffolding on Wednesday, October 2 at about 4:51 p.m. He then “bumped her on the shoulder” and “snatched her iPhone 14” before fleeing east on foot down 65th Street.

Two days earlier, on September 30, the same suspect reportedly targeted a 57-year-old woman in a similar fashion, this time in front of 58 East 127th Street (between Park and Madison avenues) at about 7:35 p.m. According to the report, he stole the woman’s iPhone 12 which contained her American Express credit card within the phone’s case. Police say he used the card to make an unauthorized $270 purchase.

There were no injuries reported from either incident.

NYPD officials have released these surveillance images of the suspect:
