There are four NYC apartments owned by Jeff Bezos, and they’re all located on the Upper West Side. As he’s decidedly the richest man in the world, it’s safe to say Bezos is also the richest property owner in the neighborhood. Back in 1999, before he could claim either of these titles, the Amazon CEO purchased three apartments at the Century, located at 25 Central Park West, from famous music executive Tommy Mottola.
Bezos paid $7.65 million for the Upper West Side apartments in October of 1999, under the name “Jetina LLC”. Mottola had purchased the apartments earlier that year with the goal of combining them, but later decided the space was too small (the combined square footage is 4,400). It was estimated that Mottola had spent about $8 million, and had originally listed the apartments for $8.9 million, so Bezos got a deal … good for him …
According to a report from Mansion Global, Bezos purchased another apartment at the Century in 2012. He paid $5.3 million for this one, which measured 1,725 square feet.
In the past, Bezos has used his Upper West Side home as a pied-à-terre. But now that Amazon is coming to town, perhaps he will be using it more often.
The Century is a prewar condominium located between 62nd and 63rd Streets.
