Someone on West End Avenue Is Very Unhappy With Their Neighbor

It started with a steaming pile of evidence — and ended with a very public callout.

A poster has been spotted up and down West End Avenue, and it’s not advertising a lost cat or a sublet. The sign features a photo of a man and a blunt message: “This loser lets his dog poop and doesn’t pick it up.”

According to a Reddit post shared on Saturday in the r/upperwestside community, the flyer was spotted a staggering 23 times along the avenue — suggesting whoever’s behind the campaign is serious about getting their message across.

And at least one neighbor seems to corroborate the accusation. “Wait I yelled at him a few days ago for not picking up his dog’s poop,” one Reddit user wrote.

The poster war comes at an especially raw time for Upper West Siders navigating their sidewalks. As another commenter put it, “the dog poop situation on the UWS has been out of control since the snow melted, it’s like a minefield on every block right now.” (The commenter isn’t wrong — as we recently reported, one woman has taken it upon herself to clean up after the neighborhood’s worst offenders.)

This isn’t the first time a New York neighborhood has resorted to public shaming over pet waste. Last September, Upper East Side residents launched a similar campaign, papering East End Avenue with flyers featuring a woman who allegedly refused to pick up after her dog — even after a passerby offered her a bag.

Despite city regulations and a $250 fine from the Department of Sanitation for failing to clean up after pets, enforcement remains spotty — leaving frustrated neighbors to take matters into their own hands, one flyer at a time.
