Any true fashionista knows that there’s nothing quite like the allure of a New York City sample sale (ask Carrie Bradshaw). While shopping opportunities in the Big Apple are hardly in short supply, snagging a steal on an essential piece is truly a treat. After all, we’re still in the throes of winter and many of us are continuing to pinch pennies in light of increased holiday spending.
If you’re in the market for major markdowns on name-brand fashion finds, a new pop-up shop may just be your stylish saving grace. Best of all, there’s no need to trek downtown for this excursion — the pop-up is located at 90 West 96th Street at the corner of Columbus Avenue.
Upon entrance, you’ll encounter an array of dresses, tops, pants, shoes, scarves, gloves and other accessories all starting at $4.99 (yes, seriously). Items go up to $99.99, so there are plenty of picks to suit the budget-conscious shopper. With fashion-forward finds from luxe labels like these (pictured below) on offer, it should come as no surprise that tops and dresses are the best-selling categories.
Like many experiences in our fair city, there’s a slight catch: Many of the items are available in limited supply, and the pop-up shop isn’t permanent. That means you’ll need to make your trip soon — while these deals are still up for grabs. Think of this as the ideal chilly February afternoon. Perhaps you can start with brunch at a nearby local favorite like Osteria Accademia or Dagon, mosey through Central Park and end with a mini shopping spree.
The pop-up shop at 90 West 96th Street (at the corner of Columbus Avenue) is open from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. and can be reached at (862) 452-8098.
