Hulu’s hit mystery-comedy, Only Murders in The Building, has been making waves of late. Deadline reports Nathan Lane is returning as Teddy Ditmas while Michael Rapaport is joining the cast in a recurring role which will feature him alongside Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin.
Rapaport will play Detective Kreps, a police detective assigned to the new murder case where we last saw Mabel (Selena Gomez) hovering over a bloody corpse, resulting in her arrest. It’s possible we’ll be seeing a lot of interaction between these two in the new season.

In classic murder mystery fashion, Only Murders in The Building closed season 1 with a cliffhanger; leaving many wondering if we’d even see Nathan Lane in season 2. “I come back. I can’t tell you how, but I do come back,” Lane revealed to Deadline before sharing a little wrinkle of what’s to come. “He did not commit the murder, but they were grave robbing. He comes back in an interesting way and there’s a big surprise.”

Martin Short, who plays Oliver Putnam — the struggling playwright who first came up with the idea of making the Only Murders in The Building podcast in season 1 — divulged some new cast editions between takes while working on season 2. “Before Christmas, [I shot scenes with] Shirley MacLaine and Amy Schumer,” said Short. “The quality of actor that this show is attracting makes it endlessly fun to go to work.”
Schumer and MacLaine have Guest roles in season 2. No further details have been shared on what those roles will be, so have fun speculating.
British model, singer and actress Cara Delevingne will star as Alice, a high society art world aficionado who’ll get weaved into the mystery with Gomez, Short and Martin.

The show’s creator, John Hoffman, has been pretty mum about what to expect for season 2, but he did share some UWS-specific details with Entertainment Weekly. “…we’re so grateful for the involvement of the actual building on 86th and Broadway, The Belnord, which is so beautiful, and is a real character in the piece. And so, for our second season, it’s got to remain squared and centered around that.” The Belnord is fictionally known as the Arconia on the show.

Selena Gomez was spotted on the Upper West Side earlier this week. Fans anxiously waited for her to leave the set, then sang for her as she smiled, waved and got in a her ride.
There is currently no release date for season 2 of Only Murders in The Building, so now’s a great time to play catch up — but don’t forget, season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is now streaming!
