With New York State now in Phase 1B of its coronavirus vaccine distribution, millions of NYC residents are eligible to be vaccinated at a growing number of sites throughout the boroughs.
NYC Health announced that as of Monday, January 11, the following groups would be eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine:
- People 75 and older*
- Teachers and education workers
- First responders
- Public safety workers
- Public transit workers
*On Tuesday, January 12, Governor Cuomo announced that those 65 or older would be eligible as well.
NEW: New Yorkers age 65+ are now eligible for the COVID vaccine — effective immediately.

If you belong to one of these groups, the city has launched a COVID-19 Vaccine Finder website through which you can search vaccine locations by address or zip code. The website is vaccinefinder.nyc.gov.

There are also locations in Harlem, Midtown West and the Upper East Side, and more locations are expected to be added soon, so if those you find are not convenient, please re-check the website at vaccinefinder.nyc.gov.
In addition, NYC has launched a phone number you can call to schedule a vaccine appointment: 877-VAX-4NYC or 877-829-4692.
All appointments must be scheduled in advance, and only the groups listed above should sign up. “If you’re currently not eligible for vaccination, please don’t sign up for an appointment at this time,” the website states.
If you’re still not sure if you are eligible, New York State has launched a website to help you find out: am-i-eligible.covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov.
The website also suggests that if your’e not feeling well on your appointment day, you should reschedule, and that individuals without face coverings will not be admitted.

This info is all well and good, but it is impossible to get an appointment for the vaccine anywhere. I have been trying everywhere for two days! Very frustrating.
Following the links provided by NYS, contacting our doctors’ offices (Weill Cornell and NUY Langone), there are NO appointments available for vaccines. Some say it could take 14 weeks to get an appointment? This is shameful. Where is the planning and preparation?
