Last modified on January 17th, 2020

NewYorkHer is a multimedia pop-up exhibition at Arthouse Hotel, located at 2178 Broadway (at 77th Street).

A fusion of technology and art, the exhibit features acrylic-mixed media paintings from artist Louisa Lama-Aknin, with each piece profiling ten immigrant woman from the Ivory Coast, Philippines, Puerto Rico, China, and France.

The paintings are accompanied by 90-second videos to bring each subject to life.

One subject is Michele, a Native American who travels to reservations and conferences to improve the lives of the young generation through education.

Another is Belma, the CEO and Founder of WorkBigger, a career development platform for women.

The pop-up is part of the Arthouse Hotel New York City’s immersive arts programming that will roll out in 2019, giving visitors and locals access to art without leaving the property. Progressive events include LIVE @ Arthouse Bar – weekly performances by local musicians, a film series and a permanent collection of work by emerging painters and artists.

NewYorkHer will be viewable between March 18th and 31st.
