What began in 2011 as a Red Bank, New Jersey bakery offering gluten-free delights across the confection spectrum evolved in 2019 when the owners moved their business to Bleecker Street. Now, Posh Pop Bakeshop is planning to open its third location on the Upper West Side. (Thanks to Adriana Lindsay for the tip.)

Signage is up at 483 Columbus Avenue (between 83rd and 84th streets). “We’re hoping to open by the end of the month,” said a Posh Pop representative on a call with ILTUWS. They noted there’s still a chance the gluten-free specialists—whose cookies include Nutella stuffed red velvet, pumpkin pie, and double chocolate s’mores peanut butter—could open by the beginning of the autumn season (September 22) if they run into delays.

The cookies are oversized and run $7.50 each. A Samoa cookie, made of shortbread and topped with toasted coconut and caramel, dipped in chocolate, and finished with a chocolate drizzle, could be a winner for Girl Scout cookie fans when it’s the off-season for local troops. And for the traditionalists, there’s always a classic chocolate chip.
At Posh Pop’s Bleecker Street location, cookies are displayed in the window, but there’s more than meets the eye inside. The bakeshop offers multiple categories, starting with cakes, which can be ordered in full (6-inch, 8-inch, 10-inch, or 12-inch) sizes ranging from $99 to $325.

Options include Ube, a purple yam from the Philippines known for its sweet, earthy flavor with a nutty texture and hints of vanilla; a classic funfetti cake; or their “Dark and Handsome” cake, made with three layers of chocolate cake filled with chocolate mousse and ganache, then topped with chocolate buttercream, ganache, and chocolate morsels.
Especially for patrons who keep a gluten-free diet, but available to everyone with a sweet tooth, Posh Pop’s menu looks to have something for everyone. In their “Fresh Baked” category is monkey bread ($10.50), fluffy pull-apart bread coated in brown sugar glaze, which they say is best served hot. Tiramisu is next, along with a behemoth-sized salted pretzel for $10, and a chocolate-glazed donut with rainbow sprinkles for $5.

Other highlights include two different funnel cakes—regular or churro—for $13.50, a cake pop section with options like cookies and cream for $6.00, and the fluffernutter brownie from the brownie section for $12.50. If the heat is on, they have ice cream in-house, including a chocolate chip cookie sandwich coated with rainbow sprinkles for $12.00. You can also grab iced drinks like the popular matcha green tea latte ($6), blueberry lemonade ($5), or iced coffee ($4).
Posh Pop currently holds a 4.6-star rating on Google for the 39th Street location and a 4.0 for Bleecker Street. One four-star review noted, “We got 2 pieces of cheesecake and a banana pudding and paid close to $50,” potentially pointing out the higher-end pricing. A five-star review came in touting a “fantastic cinnamon roll, good service, and an adorable atmosphere. To top it all off, gluten-free.”
