The space was originally slated to become a Taïm Mediterranean Kitchen, but just over a year after the lease was signed, an eviction notice appeared in the window. Another Taïm location expected to open on the Upper East Side last year also never came to fruition. The Upper West Side storefront was previously occupied by Cleopatra’s Needle, which closed towards the end of 2019.
Dim Sum Sam comes from the owners of Dim Sum Palace, which has a handful of locations dispersed throughout NYC.
There are also three other Dim Sum Sam locations: one at 28 East 23rd Street, one at 240 West 40th Street, and one at 80 Bowery. These locations have Google review scores of 4.7, 4.5 and 3.7 out of 5 stars, respectively.
