Man Involved in 75th Street Shooting Sentenced to Three Years

Following his role in a January 2023 robbery attempt that ended with shots fired on the Upper West Side, 51-year-old Oliver Richardson has been sentenced to three years in prison and two years post-release supervision. AMNY first reported the news.

Richardson and two accomplices, Mark McFadden and Joseph Gallishaw, reportedly followed a Rolls Royce driven by a man with his two-year-old for several blocks on January 6, 2023. Richardson and McFadden drew their guns on the man near W. 75th St. and Central Park West. A struggle ensued and McFadden’s gun discharged, missing the man and the child but hitting a nearby car. The three assailants fled the scene together. It’s unclear why the man was targeted for the potential robbery.

NYPD officers later spotted the trio on the West Side Highway and attempted to pull them over near W. 107th St. and Riverside Drive. The suspects stopped their car and made a getaway attempt on foot through Riverside Park, which was reportedly full of children on a Friday afternoon.

Gallishaw was immediately arrested, while Richardson and McFadden temporarily evaded police by shedding clothing and moving through the park. McFadden ran up a set of stairs and shot at a pursuing police officer. The pair were eventually arrested and three firearms, including .45 and .380 caliber guns, were recovered.

All three men were indicted about a month after the incident.

Gallishaw was sentenced to 364 days in jail for endangering the welfare of a child. The case of McFadden, who fired at the police, has not yet been decided with the next court appearance scheduled for November 13.
