New York Piano School

If you’re looking to learn the piano or improve your skills, the instructors of New York Piano School welcome children and adults of all ages and skill levels. Students have ranged in age from 3 to over 70.

Alex and his instructors are not only sensitive to each student’s individual needs, but also to their personalities. While there are certain objective aspects to teaching, everyone learns at a different pace and in a different way, and all instructors have been trained to adapt to and be mindful of the various ways in which people learn. In addition, all instructors are required to be conservatory or university trained.

While it is important that lessons are thorough and effective, it is just as important that they are enjoyable – and something which students look forward to!

As any 8 yr old, my son gets distracted so easily, but Alexander finds a way to bring him back to focus. The combination of fun, personality and professionalism that Alexander has makes it easier for my son to feel comfortable learning piano. And we are seeing good progress within a few classes. I would definitely recommend Alexander.”

The business began in Boston, where the founder, composer Alexander Barsov, attended Boston Conservatory. He brought the business to NYC in January of 2020. Alex teaches piano as well as theory and composition, and has also trained with Alexander Budyonny, Distinguished Artist of Russia. Alex’s strong classical background combined with his knowledge of non-classical genres offers his students a breadth of insight.

Alex and his instructors plan to resume offering in-person lessons this fall. Masks will be worn and all precautions will be taken, and virtual lessons will still be offered for those families who prefer them.

For those seeking piano lessons on the Upper West Side, New York Piano School is currently offering free first lessons (which can also be virtual). Just mention this article to redeem the offer!
