According to @TradedNY, the asking rent for the 1,100 square foot space was $150 per foot. That comes out to $165,000 per year or $13,750 per month, though it’s not clear if that’s what they’re actually paying. The post on @TradedNY also states that Krispy Kreme–which is also located at 2563 Broadway–was the landlord in the transaction. We called the Krispy Kreme and spoke with a manager who was unsure of what’s going on, but she sounded pretty confident that they won’t be closing.
Boka has opened for onsite dining at 410 Amsterdam Avenue (between 79th and 80th streets). We first wrote about Boka—a Korean fried chicken restaurant with another location in the East Village (which appears to be temporarily closed)—back in 2018, noting that it would ‘soon’ be opening on the Upper West Side, while the restaurant began sharing photos of its construction progress on Instagram. Two years later, the owners opened Sushi Nonaka, a ‘speakeasy’ in the basement of the same space. At that point in time (February 2020), Boka had still not opened because of an issue with Con Edison, and with the pandemic around the corner, both restaurants were soon limited to takeout and delivery. “With a newly hired team of chefs and staff, the restaurant is proud to launch after an eight-year journey of setbacks,” said the owner (they began planning in 2016). Boka is open daily from noon–10 p.m.

The world’s worst religious-based chicken sandwiches. I don’t understand the appeal, Chik-fil-a is really bad.
