Casasolvo is expected to make its debut on May 13 at 473 Amsterdam Avenue between 82nd and 83rd streets, and one of its main selling points is the $2.50 price tag on all of its coffees – a move that, perhaps not intentionally – mirrors Matto Espresso, which also charges $2.50. Matto’s nearest outpost is at 530 Columbus Avenue between 85th and 86th streets.
Casasolvo’s $2.50 beverage list comes with classic espressos and cappuccinos in addition to “Italian selections like caffè with pistachio, hazelnut, or truffle,” according to a press release sent to ILTUWS.
The soon-to-open shop will also offer Italian croissants, “specialty Italian food products including cheeses and meats, extra virgin olive oils and vinegar [and] Italian beverages and sweets.” Pastas, Italian Coca-Cola and “hand-crafted butter and yogurts” are also expected to be in store.
While the shop’s interior is small – it will be dedicated to the espresso bar and food displays – Casasolvo will have four outdoor bistro tables.
