Fur coats, skirts, and handbags, oh my.

The shop is led by founder Mois Z, who brings more than 40 years of experience in the fashion industry, according to the La Mode Royale website. Over the course of his career, Mois has developed exclusive relationships with what the brand touts as some of the best designers in the world, delivering unique fashion patterns and products. Part of his inspiration was noticing a “significant decline” in the quality of high-end luxury items, even as prices continued to climb.

Mois’ mission is to design timeless pieces that can be worn for any occasion, with his signature expression: “exotic functional pieces that glimmer with elegance and fun.”
ILTUWS spoke with an employee at La Mode Royale’s Midtown location at 1335 Sixth Avenue by West 53rd Street. “They’re fixing up the store right now, I know that, and God willing they’ll open soon,” she told us. Mois wasn’t in the store when we called, but we sent him an email to see if he has anything special planned for his Upper West Side location and to ask if an opening date is available.
The fashion brand says they offer sizes from XXS to XXXL across a variety of styles, including “The Audrey Hepburn” fur coat in Royale Red (nice for Christmas) or black. The coat features 100% cashmere with a fox collar and cuffs, and a two-tier fox-bottom trim at the hem. No prices are listed on the site, and the brand encourages customers to make an appointment. Their Black Swan dress, a black leather piece with a French ¾ sleeve crepe jacket, is noted to be “super flairy” and great for “plus-sized people.”

For those who love to read (or share) the news, their New York Times dress — featuring a mashup of headlines and inverted pyramid story structures — looks like one that will draw onlookers in as a conversation starter. We’re told that only a sampling of the shop is available to view online, so items like handbags and jewelry will be ready when the Upper West Side location opens, or if you prefer to visit their Midtown store. We’ll update this story with more details when we hear back from Mois.
