It’s been a tough month for Drake, the Canadian hip-hop artist. It began at the 67th annual Grammy Awards, where his rival, Kendrick Lamar, won both Record of the Year and Song of the Year for his Drake diss track, “Not Like Us.”

Critics and fans alike have argued that the victory ended the battle, with Lamar as the clear winner. Then came the Super Bowl, where Lamar performed the song—along with other Drake diss tracks like “Euphoria”—while Drake’s ex-girlfriend, tennis legend Serena Williams, danced the Crip Walk. Anyone following the conflict might wonder: how does Drake come back from this? His answer? Leveraging Tatiana by Kwame Onwuachi, the famous Upper West Side restaurant currently ranked the best restaurant in the city by The New York Times.
“So, I’m at Tatiana, the #1 restaurant in NYC—Nigerian chef, by the way,” wrote X user Guacawole on Saturday, February 15. Also known in real life as Oluwole Olosunde, the emergency room nurse and fashionista runs his own streetwear and home goods line, Against Medical Advice. Olosunde called the food at Tatiana “amazing!” but when it came time to pay, he noted that the waitress said his card was declined. “Then a random woman came to us with this card and said, ‘It’s covered by The 6. Happy Valentine’s Day.’” The 6 refers to Drake’s hometown of Toronto, a nod to its area code, 416.
Could the “God’s Plan” singer be looking to win fans back with a gesture of goodwill? The waitress handed Olosunde a card that read, “Happy Valentine’s Day from PARTYNEXTDOOR & Drake.” The former is the stage name of Canadian singer Jahron Anthony Brathwaite, the first artist to sign with Drake’s OVO Sound label in 2013. Olosunde posted a photo of his receipt, which totaled $561.82 before tip.

As we looked into the matter, it appears Drake and PARTYNEXT DOOR covered dinner for everyone at Tatiana on Valentine’s Day.
It’s worth noting that in “Not Like Us,” Lamar accused Drake of being a pedophile. To further illustrate just how decisively Lamar has dominated their feud, in May 2024, when Drake released Family Matters, he asked to speak with Lamar’s uncle: “Cause I wanna talk to the man of the house.” At the Super Bowl, Samuel L. Jackson appeared as Uncle Sam (of the United States of America) to open the event, essentially sealing Drake’s defeat in the rivalry.
Drake’s new album, released on Valentine’s Day with PARTYNEXTDOOR, appears to have moved on from the conflict—probably a wise decision.
