Mega Stars will Headline Central Park’s “Mega-Concert”; 3 Iconic Performers Announced

Mayor Bill de Blasio has announced that Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon and Jennifer Hudson will be headlining the “mega-concert” taking place on Central Park‘s Great Lawn this summer.

Tentatively scheduled for August 21, we first wrote about what’s being dubbed as “The Official NYC Homecoming Concert in Central Park” in early June, at which point the stars of the show were unknown. Mayor de Blasio did say, however, that an estimated 8 acts would be included in the concert, and that record producer and music executive Clive Davis would be organizing it.

The concert is the City’s way of saying “we’re back,” and the first three stars to be added to the lineup certainly make us wonder who else will be performing.

According to Page Six, Bruce Springsteen is also expected to perform a duet with Patti Smith.

During a Thursday press conference, Mayor de Blasio said this is going to be “one of the greatest Central Park concerts in history,” promising it will be “something for the ages.”

FULL LINEUP ANNOUNCED FOR HOMECOMING CONCERT

It won’t be the biggest in terms of attendance, though. Audience capacity for the event will be capped at 60,000 attendees, a number easily eclipsed by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel’s “The Concert in Central Park” in 1981, which attracted a crowd of 400,000.
