Black Press Coffee Has Opened

A Black Press Coffee has opened on the Upper West Side! This is their second location, and it is located at 274 Columbus Avenue (between 72nd and 73rd Streets … closer to 73rd, on the west side of the street). The previous occupant of this space was Birdbath Neighborhood Green Bakery, which closed in September (along with their other two former UWS locations).

From Black Press Coffee’s website:

We constantly sample coffees from different farmers, providing you with a curated selection from the producers who share our passion for quality. We partner with Parlor, our roaster in Brooklyn, to bring the best coffee we can to the heart of New York.

Their coffee menu has all of the expected varieties: cappuccinos, drip coffee, macchiato, lattes and so forth.

They also have a generous list of pastries, with various sweet and savory croissants (chocolate, almond, ham and swiss, spinach ricotta), vegan and gluten-free cookies and a variety of breads and donuts. According to Black Press Coffee’s Instagram page, it also seems like they get at least some of their baked goods from Ovenly, like this cranberry oat loaf:

This follows lots of recent coffee news: the recent opening of Blue Bottle Coffee and the soon to open Jack’s Stir Brew.
