When two immigrants, Ahmed and Luis, first met at a food festival in Los Angeles, they bonded over their love of cooking and cuisine. Ahmed, from Afghanistan, and Luis, from Mexico, went on to create a halal-style Mexican restaurant that now has nine locations in New York City, according to its website. Number 10 appears to be coming to 2675 Broadway, next to Sal and Carmine’s, in the former Wolfnights®, between West 101st and 102nd streets.

The chicken birria tacos have emerged as a signature menu item at Adobo; the chicken is braised in chili sauce and served in broth-soaked corn tortillas, accompanied by a side of consomé (broth) and pickled onions. They come three per order at $12.99, according to the online menu. Steak birria tacos are also available, prepared the same way, for a dollar more at $13.99.

Mexican staples like the quesadilla start at $9.99. This cheesy dish can be filled with toppings and condiments of your choice. Queso (spicy or regular) is included, along with your choice of cheese (Mexican yellow and white or Monterey Jack) and a protein option: fajita veggies, tofu, grilled chicken, steak, ground beef, honey chipotle chicken, or sweet and spicy grilled shrimp. Chopped cilantro and jalapeño are available at no extra cost, along with house-made sauces such as habanero or sweet mango verde, among others.

Chips and guac ($5.99), a burrito bowl ($9.99), and nachos ($9.99) are some of Adobo’s classic Mexican offerings. The keto salad bowl ($9.99) is a lower-carb option filled with toppings and condiments of your choice. Adding a protein, such as shredded or grilled chicken, costs extra ($2.00 to $4.25). For the base, you can select romaine lettuce, black or pinto beans, or a spring mix, then add toppings like corn salsa, chopped red onion, pico de gallo, spicy salsa, and either Mexican or Monterey Jack cheese.

Adobo also has a kids’ corner, offering two crispy tacos for $7.99—the same price as their kids’ quesadilla or soft tacos. We reached out to the team to ask when they plan to open and will update this story when we hear back.
