The Broadway Mall Association [BMA] is concluding its fall volunteer series with a community cleanup to take place on November 14 from 10am to 12pm.
Volunteers will be cleaning the malls from 73rd to 90th Streets. Tools will be provided by BMA and NYC Parks including garbage pickers, brooms, garbage bags, gloves and masks.
Volunteers will meet at Verdi Square at 73rd Street and Broadway.
Partners for the cleanup to date include Community Board 7, Friends of Verdi Square, , Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, Council Member Helen Rosenthal, Marti Cummings, State Senator Jose Serrano and NYC Parks.

“Budget cuts due to the pandemic have taken a toll on the cleanliness of our parks and streets. The Broadway Mall Association is able to connect neighbors and partners as we join forces to keep the Broadway malls clean. Our volunteers’ enthusiasm, time, and hard work has made a tremendous positive impact,” said BMA executive director Robyn Bellamy. “In addition to volunteer hours, BMA relies on the financial support of individuals to do our work. We invite our neighbors to consider making a donation before the end of the year,” continued Ms. Bellamy.
The Broadway Mall Association (BMA) is a non-profit that stewards, advocates, and cares for the 5-mile environmental resource in the heart of upper Manhattan. The 83 verdant malls from 70th to 168th Street stretch from the Upper West Side through Harlem to Washington Heights. In addition to upgrading the 10.6 acres of malls along Broadway, BMA installs winter lighting and stages world class public art exhibitions that reflect the distinct, diverse communities of the area, and engage both residents and visitors alike.
