Last modified on October 18th, 2019

An American Craftsman, a gallery and retail shop will be celebrating a grand opening on November 1st. Known for its large selection of wood, glass, jewelry, and furniture, the store will reopen at 2007 Broadway, between 68th & 69th Streets. A previous location which has since closed was located at 74th and Columbus.

The store showcases the work of talented emerging artists alongside well established artists working with wood, clay, fiber, metal, glass, leather and mixed media. Additionally, An American Craftsman is known for being a reprieve from typical tourist pieces. They offer handmade crafts and goods designed to be unique and interesting, and also make great gifts.

Some items available include glass goods – from perfume bottles and paperweights to incredible bowls and wall hangings. Additionally, An American Craftsman offers wood pieces – from clocks, jewelry boxes, toys and puzzles,  bowls, and wall hangings. There is something for everyone.

Even if you aren’t in the market for gifts or decor, if you’re nearby, stop in and have a look. The store resembles a gallery – customers can browse and ogle at all the unique pieces. Reviewers of the store mention that they “didn’t come across another store in NYC that came close to being as cool as their stores. A real AAA+ to them. It is worth the time to visit.”.

An American Craftsman has two additional store locations in the Berkshires. They originally opened as an exhibition space for contemporary American artists working in craft media. The store was first opened in Greenwich Village in 1980. For more information, visit their site here.
