Sundays, a nail salon and nail-care brand, is opening a location at 211 West 84th Street (between Broadway and Amsterdam). The company positions its studios as a wellness-focused escape from daily stress, offering manicures and pedicures with its own line of nail polish, which it bills as non-toxic, vegan, cruelty-free, and “10-free,” meaning it’s made without 10 commonly avoided chemicals. It already runs several studios around the city, including spots in SoHo, NoMad, the East Village, Hudson Yards, Long Island City, and one crosstown on the Upper East Side. New clients get 20% off their first visit.

Manhattan Karate NYC, a new karate dojo, opened earlier this month at 251 West 81st Street (between Broadway and West End Avenue). The studio teaches both traditional and sport karate, with age-based programs that start at 3 years old and run through classes for teens and adults. It was co-founded by two instructors with complementary specialties: Sensei Nerik, who brings more than 20 years of traditional teaching experience, and Vladyslav Burdeinyi, a sport-karate specialist with national and international tournament experience. Classes run Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon, with Fridays and Sundays by appointment, and prospective students can book a first class with no commitment required.Wink Pediatric Eye Care, an eye-care practice for kids, opened 0n August 24 at 424 West End Avenue (between 80th and 81st streets). Led by pediatric optometrist Dr. Steph, the office focuses on children’s vision, offering comprehensive eye exams, vision therapy, myopia management, glasses, and contact lenses, along with urgent care for eye emergencies. The space is designed with young patients in mind, with a playful, kid-friendly setup meant to put children at ease.
ICYMI: Aperture, the 74-year-old nonprofit behind Aperture magazine and decades of photography books, opened its first permanent home on September 18 at 380 Columbus Avenue, at the corner of West 78th Street. The roughly 10,000-square-foot space spans the first two floors of an 1886 building and includes a gallery, a bookstore stocked by Dashwood Books, flexible areas for installations and talks, and offices that visitors can see into, plus a photo booth just inside the entrance. Its inaugural show, “Aperture Loves New York,” is curated by executive director Sarah Meister and features work by Diane Arbus, Robert Frank, Nan Goldin, and Carrie Mae Weems, among others.
