The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan is hosting a Spring Community Recycling Day on Sunday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 334 Amsterdam Avenue at 76th Street.
Upper West Siders can bring gently used electronics and clothing to sidewalk drop-off stations — helping support housing-insecure New Yorkers while keeping usable items out of landfills.
E-waste collection is being handled in partnership with the LES Ecology Center, which will accept computers, laptops, printers, mobile phones, televisions, video game consoles, and more. Clothing donations — including shoes, towels, linens, hats, bags, and clean fabric — will be distributed to families experiencing housing insecurity.
Some items cannot be accepted, including air conditioners, appliances, batteries, light bulbs, and physical media like CDs and DVDs. A full breakdown is included in the flyer below.
Volunteer shifts are also available throughout the day for anyone who wants to help out.
The event is co-sponsored by the Office of New York City Council Member Gale A. Brewer and the LES Ecology Center.
