A family-owned Brooklyn café has crossed the bridge.
Choice Brooklyn opened at 2040 Broadway, at the corner of West 70th Street, on March 25, the eatery announced on Instagram. It is the second location for the business, which has operated its original Clinton Hill outpost at 318 Lafayette Avenue since the mid-2000s.

The Upper West Side space was previously home to Patisserie Chanson, a French pastry shop that opened there in 2023 and closed last month. Before Patisserie Chanson, the space was occupied by a T-Mobile Store.According to the café’s website, Choice Brooklyn serves house-baked pastries, handcrafted coffee, made-to-order sandwiches, fresh smoothies, breakfast plates, and vegan options, with everything prepared daily from scratch. The owners trace the business’s baking traditions to their grandmother’s farm in southwestern France.
The menu spans breakfast through dinner. Breakfast options include organic scrambled egg sandwiches on house-made ciabatta ($6.95), buttermilk pancakes, French toast, a croque monsieur and croque madame, avocado toast on 7-grain bread, breakfast burritos, and a granola and Greek yogurt bowl. Sandwiches and paninis — including a BLT with rosemary mayo, a prosciutto baguette, a steak panini with USDA Prime hanger steak, and a portobello panini with goat cheese and pesto — run roughly $14 to $17. Pastries include croissants, almond croissants, cinnamon rolls, blueberry scones, and cherry danishes, among others, mostly in the $5 to $6 range. The café also offers a full espresso drink menu, smoothies, and specialty lattes including turmeric, mushroom, and maple. Pastries are half-price after 5 p.m.
The café is open daily at 2040 Broadway (at West 70th Street).
