Vieira purchased the co-op in 2014 for nearly $8.9 million with her late husband, television producer and author Richard Cohen, who passed away last December at 76. The couple had envisioned the Art Deco building’s top-floor apartment as a retirement home—one that offered light, space, and accessibility for Cohen, who lived with multiple sclerosis and chronicled his experience in a best-selling memoir.“I needed the apartment to have high ceilings and to have a lot of light; I needed it to be one level; and I needed it to have outdoor space,” Vieira told the New York Times, which first reported this story.

Located at 300 Central Park West between West 90th and 91st streets, the 19th-floor residence measures roughly 2,800 square feet and features three bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, and an office that could serve as a fourth bedroom. The home opens from a private elevator landing into a large, loft-like living and dining space divided by a double-sided limestone fireplace.

A southern terrace off the living room overlooks the Hudson River and city skyline, while a northern terrace connects to each bedroom, offering panoramic views of Central Park and the Reservoir. Together, the terraces span about 1,400 square feet, both lined with greenery and outfitted for outdoor dining.Allyson Lubow for Corcoran

Inside, the apartment retains many elegant details, including 10-foot ceilings, oak floors, and decorative moldings, as well as updated bathrooms and a kitchen with stainless steel appliances, stone countertops, and banquette seating. Vieira told the NY Times that one of her favorite spots was a daybed in the living room, where she’d unwind after long days.

Vieira—best known for hosting The Today Show, The View, and currently the game show 25 Words or Less—said selling the home is bittersweet. The apartment, she noted, “just says old New York charm,” but it also holds memories that make it difficult to stay following her husband’s death. The apartment has a monthly maintenance cost of $8,332 and a $268 assessment through 2027 for window work.
Though moving on from the El Dorado, Vieira told the Times she hasn’t ruled out finding another Manhattan home in the future.
