Club Monaco Closes Columbus Avenue Store

The Club Monaco at 211 Columbus Avenue (between 69th and 70th streets) has closed its doors for good.

The store appears to have first opened in early 2008, according to an old website by Council Member Gale Brewer—uwsdevelopments.wordpress.com—which also notes that the space was previously occupied by a Banana Republic. (That Banana Republic relocated to 67th and Broadway in 2006, closed in 2021, and will soon be replaced by a Mango store.)

Club Monaco’s disappearance from Columbus Avenue has been somewhat gradual, as Madewell took over part of its space back in 2019.

The Toronto-based retailer–which offers upscale men’s and women’s clothing–opened its first NYC store in 1995 at 2376 Broadway (at 87th Street). This shop closed in 2017 and is now home to a Tend location.

The immediate area has experienced a fair amount of change in recent times, with the closing of Allbirds earlier this year and the upcoming arrival of a Chanel Beauty store.

Club Monaco’s remaining NYC locations can be found at 597 Fifth Avenue (at East 48th Street) and 83 Spring Street in Soho.
