Jurassic World: Rebirth is back on the big screen at the AMC Lincoln Square after a primal-level storm dropped the second-wettest hour in New York City history—behind Hurricane Ida in 2021—with 2.07 inches of rain falling between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Monday, June 14.

The stormy conditions caused a pipe to burst, ultimately flooding the lower levels of the multiplex at 1998 Broadway and West 68th Street. A TikTok video uploaded by @thekarlajoan shows water bursting from mid-level seams of the AMC down to the concession area, where it pooled to pond-like levels, soaking into the carpet. The scene is reminiscent of 2021, when Hurricane Ida caused flooding in the lower levels of Best Buy, Target, and other stores.

AMC Lincoln Square, the flagship theater of the brand, regularly hosts movie premieres and features a state-of-the-art IMAX theater with one of the largest screens in the country, along with a Dolby Cinema auditorium known for ultra-vivid color and immersive sound. AMC Lincoln also offers comfortable seating and themed auditoriums, making the moviegoing experience feel like an adventure. However, Monday night’s water disaster temporarily put the silver screens out of commission.
While not all theaters are back up, AMC Lincoln Square reopened Tuesday evening. ‘Impacted auditoriums and other affected areas of the theatre will remain closed as remediation work is underway,’ AMC said in a statement to Variety, which broke the story. Refunds were issued automatically for tickets purchased to affected showtimes.

Fortunately, this storm wasn’t a mission impossible for AMC, which is now back to screening Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, along with Superman, How to Train Your Dragon, 28 Years Later, F1 The Movie, Materialists, The Phoenician Scheme, and Sorry, Baby.

Uptown passengers on an uptown No. 1 train witnessed water flooding into the subway car as the 28th Street stop was overwhelmed, with water barreling in as the doors opened. Some straphangers laughed while others picked up their feet.

Guess they should have snaked the roof drains as a precaution, or basic maintenance.
