Green Lane Coffee has opened at 204 West 96th Street (between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue), the space which was home to Gertrude Coffee from August 2020 until it closed in April. Gertrude’s former owner, Shweta Khare, previously told us that Green Lane had purchased the shop from them.

Dmitry Miroshnichenko opened Green Lane Coffee’s first location in September 2020 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. That location has since closed, but he’s got another shop at 1582 First Avenue on the Upper East Side which has pretty good reviews, with a Google score of 4.8 out of 5 stars based on 97 reviews. Reviews are not quite as strong on Yelp, where they’ve got a score of 4.3 out of 5 stars (though that’s based on only 15 reviews). All of their lattes seem to be super popular.

Green Lane partners with Parlor Coffee – a popular brand used by other coffee shops including Black Press and Blank Street – using several types of beans for their different drinks; Wallabout for espresso-based drinks, Colombia la Quebrada for drip coffee, and Guatemala Pulcal for cold brew.

Some of Green Lane’s specialty drinks include their Raspberry Mint Matcha, Cardamom Cold Brew Latte, Espresso and Soda, and their Cinnamon Bun on Ice. Miroshnichenko tells us they’re also serving pastries from local companies including Hungru Gnome, DANK and Bien Cuit.

And, like the Upper East Side location, the new spot will also serve dog treats. “We love dogs, I have a dog too, so it’s always good to see puppies around,” says Miroshnichenko.

Starting Tuesday, Green Lane Coffee is open at 204 West 96th Street from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on weekends. To learn more, follow @green_lane_coffee on Instagram.
