The conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes in late 2023 has resulted in an influx of projects being revived after production pauses, which means it’s become increasingly more common to spot stars shooting scenes throughout New York City.

Of course, the picturesque Upper West Side is a prime destination for camera activity — and the latest series set to film is Netflix’s “Zero Day,” a big-budget bonanza with an A-list cast and major industry buzz.
According to a few sharp-eyed neighborhood Twitter users, “Zero Day” will film on Thursday and Friday at 70th and Broadway and 68th and Amsterdam Avenue. As is de rigueur with any street shoots, cars parked in the area will have to be moved the night prior to action being called — in this case, vehicles will be towed to the nearest legal spot if not moved by Wednesday, April 3 at 10 p.m. If your vehicle is relocated, you can call the NYPD Tow Unit at 212-971-0782 or Ronnie K (a member of the location management team) at 917-671-5887.
Although the nature of the scenes in question is unconfirmed, there’s some information out there about “Zero Day” (though plot details are being kept mum). Regardless, all signs point to it being a compelling (and timely) watch. The six-episode series’ logline reads, “Zero Day asks the question on everyone’s mind — how do we find truth in a world in crisis, one seemingly being torn apart by forces outside our control? And in an era rife with conspiracy theory and subterfuge, how much of those forces are products of our own doing, perhaps even of our own imagining?”
Starring Robert De Niro as a former U.S. President (the two-time Oscar winner also serves as an executive producer), Deadline reports the show will center around the aftermath of a “devastating global cyber-attack.”

Though Bobby D’s first small screen series is already a high-wattage event, the cast also includes Hollywood heavyweights like Angela Bassett (who plays Evelyn Mitchell, the current sitting POTUS), Connie Britton, Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen and “Downton Abbey” veteran Dan Stevens. All episodes will be directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, best known for her award-winning work on “Mad Men” and “Homeland.”
Prior to a strike-related shutdown, “Zero Day” filmed a train crash scene in Westchester County. A press release from Netflix confirmed production had officially resumed in December 2023, but no completion date (or air date) has been provided.
