Hulu Announces ‘Only Murders’ Season 2 Premiere Date

Hulu announced on Friday that its immensely popular mystery-comedy series, Only Murders in the Building, will return for its season two premier on June 28, 2022.

The all-star cast featuring Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin have been seen filming around the Upper West Side, where the show predominantly takes place, since December. Also re-emerging for the new season is the ever-iconic Nathan Lane, who delivered a series of villainous hurdles for the cast to overcome in season one.

If you’re new to the show, it’s worth noting that Only Murders in the Building quickly emerged as “the most-watched comedy ever on Hulu, by a good measure,” Hulu Originals President Craig Erwich told Vulture in an October interview. Fan favorite Selena Gomez also won the “Comedy TV Star of 2021” People’s Choice Award for her work as Mabel Mora.

In season one we witnessed the mysterious Mabel Mora (Gomez), debt ridden Broadway director Oliver Putnam (Short), and one-hit-wonder TV actor Charles-Haden Savage (Martin) come together over a suspicious death in their UWS apartment building, The Arconia.

It’s amazing how you can live so close to some people and never really know them. It’s that dynamic we see unfold in the first season as these three strangers bond over their obsession for true crime as they launch a podcast investigating the death of fellow building resident, Tim Kono.

On their quest to crack the case — which police ruled a suicide — the three begin to unravel complex secrets about their building and the people living amongst them. Mora, Putnam and Haden-Savage also have their own skeletons in the closet.

Season two will likely kick off with the trio investigating the death of Arconia Board President Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell). There’s also a competing podcast to deal with thanks to advantageous media tycoon Cinda Canning (Tina Fey).

New to season two’s cast will be comedian Michael Rapaport playing Detective Kreps. Also starring is British model, singer and actress Cara Delevingne as Alice, a ritzy art world aficionado. Shirley MacLaine and Amy Schumer also have guest roles.

We hope to see Sting return, too.
