A Brooklyn sandwich shop, called The Sandwich Shop, has leased a new space at 329 Amsterdam Avenue, between 75th and 76th Streets. The new eatery will be replacing V.I.P Cleaners. (Thanks to ‘Upper West Sider’ for the tip).
The news was first announced in an Instagram post by Traded NY, which included the asking rent of $150,000 per year (or $12,500 per month).
The Sandwich Shop opened in Williamsburg in 2013, and serves “internationally inspired sandwiches, wraps, salads, and rice bowls with a modern artisanal flair.”
Some popular picks:
El Cubano: “Slow cooked Leg of Pork (Pernil), Smoked Virginia Ham, Swiss Cheese, Sweet Pickles and Mustard Pressed on Portuguese Bread.”
Emiliana Sandwich: “Prosciutto, Mozzarella, Pesto, Fresh Tomatoes, Arugula, and Balsamic Vinaigrette on Ciabatta.”
The Queen: “Chicken Salad (Pulled Breast with Secret Mayo Dressing) and Avocados on Warm baguette.”
The owners appear to be the same people behind Coddiwomple, another sandwich shop which has a website with an almost identical description and layout (though we’ve reached out to confirm this). Coddiwomple has locations in Hell’s Kitchen, StuyTown and on the Upper East Side.
We’ve contacted The Sandwich Shop to inquire about a target opening date and we’ll provide an update when we know more.
