4 Things to Do on the Upper West Side this Weekend

West 104th Street Yard Sale

The West 104th Street Yard Sale takes place this Saturday.

A few ideas for your upcoming weekend:

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the 34th annual West 104th Street Yard Sale will take place between West End Avenue and Riverside Drive. Organizers promise over sixty stalls ‘bursting with second-hand treasures,’ alongside a silent auction featuring items like antiques, vintage collectibles, posters, photographs, paintings, and more. In addition to a wide selection of books for sale, the event will include a bake sale, live music, and a raffle—last year’s winner took home $2623.74. On Sunday, head over to Pier I (70th Street on the Hudson River) to sun gaze with the Amateur Astronomers Association. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., you’ll get to stare directly at the sun through fancy telescopes. This is a recurring event which is part of Summer on the Hudson, but from looking at the series calendar, this appears to be the last sun gazing session of the year. Learn more here.

Grand Bazaar NYC’s ‘NYC Autumn Bazaar’ will be happening on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the outdoor playground at 100 West 77th Street (where it runs every Sunday). “As the leaves change, so does the array of vendors and merchandise, making it the perfect destination for exploration, unique finds, and seasonal gifts,” the event page claims, so maybe there will actually be some new stuff to wear and eat. As always, 100% of Grand Bazaar NYC’s profits go to four local public schools. Learn more here.

On both Saturday and Sunday, the West Side Community Garden (123 West 89th Street between Columbus and Amsterdam) will be hosting its Arts & Crafts Festival. Artists will be selling their creations alongside live music, a live poetry reading, a kids craft project, and a clown (Danny the Clown; he does magic). Full details can be found here.
