Luxury Rental Coming to Manhattan Valley

Last modified on September 21st, 2020

Renderings for a luxury rental building in Manhattan Valley have just been released. 123 West 106th Street is being developed by CoSo Apartments and designed by MVMK Architecture. Once complete, the new development will stand eleven stories tall and have 48 apartments. Units will range from studios to two-bedrooms.

City Realty reports that the new building will come with amenities including a gym, recreation area, bike storage and laundry room.

The current building on the site is a five-story walkup which will be demolished. However, there is currently a two-bedroom in the building listed for $3,200 per month.

It’s possible that this apartment is only available for a short-term period. Or, it may no longer be available and CoSo just hasn’t removed it from their website yet. Once we have demolition & construction timelines we will update this post (to get the update, sign up for our emails).

CoSo Apartments has an office at 933 Amsterdam (at 106th Street) and many rental buildings in the immediate area. Most of their apartments are in walk-up buildings and their target market has always been Columbia students looking to move in with roommates in order to split the bill.

123 West 106th Street will likely attract working professionals, as the rents will clearly be higher. Given how much Manhattan Valley has changed over the years, this should be of no surprise. Permits were first filed in late 2017.

Here are the renderings from MVMK Architecture.
